Coffee Good, Caffeine Bad

Coffee Caffeine - The debate was given a new flavour with the publication of a new report. Men all around the world perked up when they heard that drinking a lot of coffee could be beneficial. The risks caused by advanced and lethal prostate cancer could be reduced by drinking a lot of coffee according to a new study. How much is a lot? According a BBC World Service news bulletin, 6 to 8 cups a day is a lot although some of us would argue with that. The same bulletin included the comment that the more a man drinks, the better.

The study found that the men who drank the most coffee had a 60% lower risk of having what it called “aggressive prostate cancer” compared to men who did not drink coffee at all. Imagine that! Men who don't drink coffee! Surely a “groundless” accusation.

Be warned though! The researchers did not think that it was the caffeine that was giving the benefit. Decaffeinated coffee is probably the better option, they advise.
